David West

Alabama Cooperative Extension System

David West has worked as a city horticulturist, a landscape foreman, a graduate research assistant, and County Agent. He is currently County Extension Coordinator in Calhoun County, Alabama and team leader for other CEC’s in East Central Alabama. He has been involved in agriculture, forestry and natural resources for over 30 years.

David is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, and he has graduate degrees in Horticulture, Urban Forestry and Environmental Studies, receiving his Ph.D. from Auburn University in 1997.

Along with his service as President of Legacy, Inc., David serves on the Alabama Urban Forestry Association Council where he has served as President and coordinates the yearly AUFA Tree and Beautification Board Academy. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Calhoun County Department of Human Resources Board of Directors.

David has published research and extension articles and co-authored a book, 50 Trees for Alabama. He has served as the Arbor Day Poster Contest Coordinator for Alabama for 25 years.

David and his wife, Kathy, live in Eastaboga with their 4 children, Will, Wyatt, Madison and Maggie.
