Executive Director
Toni Bruner, a Troy University graduate, has an extensive environmental education background, Toni is thoroughly familiar with Alabama’s education system. Bruner most recently served as Education Coordinator for Auburn University’s Museum of Natural History. Before that, she worked for the Cook Museum of Natural History developing their educational department and assisting with exhibit creation. Toni holds numerous certifications including, Master Leave No Trace Trainer, Project Learning Tree Trainer, and certification as a Trainer for the National Association of Interpretive Guides. Toni serves on numerous education boards, and she is the current president of the Alabama Environmental Education Association. She is an avid caver and hiker, just completing her second Make a Wish Trailblazer challenge.
Education Coordinator
Mrs. Penny Ragland has a M.S. in Wildlife Biology from Eastern Kentucky University. She taught Biology classes at Auburn University Montgomery for over 15 years and the Alabama Nature Center for 2 years. Growing up loving the great outdoors, Penny enjoys sharing her knowledge with children and adults alike. Seeing people explore nature and learn about conservation brings much joy to Penny. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, fishing, and camping.
Office Assistant
Anjelica Valencia recently graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) with a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology. She has a strong passion for conservation, with a particular interest in wildlife and hands-on fieldwork. Anjelica has experience working with reptiles at the Alabama Nature Center and has a deep appreciation for animals of all kinds with several pets of her own. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time in nature.
